Be aware it's very new and there might be bugs. Feedback welcome, hopefully this feature will be useful!

My first impression is that while we sort by most recent toot by default, it feels kind of hectic and might incentivize people to post more than they want to. So how about instead of second-level precision, it's something like day-level precision, and sorting by something else within that bucket?
Hello? I am talking about the directory? Not the timelines goddammit. It's a thread.
@Gargron Whoops, maybe if everyone made the same mistake, there could be a more user intuitive way to show threads?
@wincest I mean,
@Gargron maybe also include an indent or something? or at the top of the post put like an "@" to yourself to show its a continuation or something? just a thought!
@Gargron i like the directory good job
@Gargron I wonder how many Tumblr users realize you can click on a post and see the whole thread, instead of having to wade through all the likes and textless reblogs and then go down all the rabbit holes because every discussion is a separate thread over there. >_<
@noelle @Gargron I think they'll figure it out sooner or later.
@Gargron oh shit I'm sorry... I didnt realize it was about the directory at first. Sorry for the confusion.
@Gargron sounds like you might wanna make threads more obvious? idk but you can fix stuff like this
@Gargron bad post op glad im not on your instance
@Gargron personally, im a big fan of the hectic energy, and really appreciate seeing things in chronological order whenever possible.
@Gargron agree, day precision would be good
@Gargron This is a neat feature!!
@Gargron give us chronological as the default at the very least
@Gargron I think finding any way to slow down local a bit would be great. Preferrably keeping it in chronological order but yeah, it's too fast right now to be worth trying to read.
@Gargron the fact that it goes by most recent is part of why ive fallen in love with this site, please dont make me have to roll back that sentiment
@Gargron overwhelmingly it is a bad idea to make a timeline anything other than just simply chronological. i wouldnt change anything.
@Gargron an hour-long bucket might be good, that way it would be clearer who's most popular during which time of day; for people in different timezones, they may want to follow people who are more active at times when they're online.
@Gargron 🤔 Maybe the sorting within the day bucket could be # of toots? like "X toots in the past 24 hours", not number total
@Gargron Can we have a daily digest (or hourly digest), or sort by people we watch first and then general directory? I'd like to be able to scan at my leisure in chunks.
@Gargron Sort randomly, limiting to users active in the last month. Sorting by posting frequency rewards noise.
