you wanna create a slideshow? you use your pentium, you're gonna get about 20% slideshow. i3 7th gen pretty good gets you about 80-90%. now an i7 8th gen? that's just under 200% slideshow. imagine being able to make that much of slideshow power
@lynnesbian Reminds me that I did a slideshow once with a raspberry Pi… (had it in my bag for whatever reason and my laptop broke a bit before)
@lanodan what percentage slideshow did you get
@lynnesbian How beautiful is LaTeX over HDMI?
@lanodan very very low percentage, please consider intel i9
@lanodan
reading this and had the cursed thought of shoving a LaTeX AST over and HDMI cable somehow, then rendering it in the display.
@lynnesbian
Do I need a Xeon if I want 6000% Slideshow?
@dev_ponies @lynnesbian you need a google deepmind behemoth
I always thought google would be around a 75000% slideshow, very disappointed google, bad stuff from google.
@dev_ponies they have lots and lots of processors so they can produce thousands of slideshows at 700% all at once, then they use the best one from each generation to create even better ones
@lynnesbian Ohhhh I get it now, it took five of them to do a basic office task, that's why they were called Pentiums, because you had to buy them in packs of five. #retrocomputing
Often you had to buy them in packs of six because one would always be DOA
@lynnesbian i like that there are 5 different citations at the end of the sentence near the top just so you know that this is Very Researched And Correct
@lynnesbian
aw man gotta try to raise my numbers on the Microsoft PowerPoint benchmark
True Gamer® PCs can do 400% slideshow power™
@lynnesbian which processor lets me boomerpost the fastest on facebook?
@lynnesbian on this blessed day, we are all thinking about those beans 🙏
@lynnesbian I like to imagine that they had the same intern perform the test every time so they just got better at making slideshows and the processor performance didn't improve at all.
@lynnesbian real "how to lie with statistics" hours
@lynnesbian you need to buy five pentiums if you wanna make one slideshow since they only do 20% each
@lynnesbian mmodern slideshow programs are bloat tbh
@lynnesbian wouldn't a *worse* processor be better at making your computer run like a slideshow?
@ben @lynnesbian no, but a strobing monitor would
That just gives you the appearance of slideshow, but not real slideshow power™
@lynnesbian pc will be the ultimate slideshow machine
@lynnesbian pretty sure a slideshow made with 200% slideshow performance is literaly capable of convincing anyone of anything.
@lynnesbian What percent of slideshow are we at now?
@PetraOleum unfortunately, due to the death of moore's law, we're only at around 350% slideshow in the modern era. hopefully AI can fix this
@lynnesbian oh no! I might have to slideshow on my gpu!
@PetraOleum the fabled powerpoint raytracing update...
@lynnesbian The powerpoints I made in primary school and burnt to CD had a rats nest of internal links for interactivity - really when you think about it this is the logical evolution
@lynnesbian actually Pentium should give you the best slideshow, you just try to play an HD video
@lynnesbian @regehr *insert rant about how generation to the next probably matters less than class within a generation* I'm pretty sure an i5-7600K is going to curb stomp an i7-8500Y
@malwareminigun @regehr it might be faster, yes, but is it more slideshow?
@lynnesbian @regehr It has twice the cores so I think twice as much slideshow. 2 slideshows at once!

@lynnesbian As someone who used to work on Intel graphics...

10/10, no notes. 😍

@lynnesbian just imagine all the slideshow we have now in the five years since you posted this. we probably have so much slideshow we need processor that do 300, 400, maybe even 500 graphing
@lynnesbian The Least blatant misleading graph by Intel
@lynnesbian ah yes. Of course I need at least an i7-8 to make slideshows.
@lynnesbian this toot is old, but Intel's own presentations trying to convince you that only Intel will get you 200% of arbitrary performance haven't changed since then.

@lynnesbian This is really scary, and the Pentium doesn't have a generation listed. Which Pentiums can I only do 20% Powerpoint with???
