https://forum.rpg.net/showthread.php?835849-New-Ban-Do-Not-Post-In-Support-of-Trump-or-his-Administration
"This is because his public comments, policies, and the makeup of his administration are so wholly incompatible with our values that formal political neutrality is not tenable. We can be welcoming to (for example) persons of every ethnicity who want to talk about games, or we can allow support for open white supremacy. Not both."
I am so fucking glad to see a major tabletops community take this stance
I've been fed up with almost all the bigger places to talk about war gaming and tabletop RPGs being packed with reddit style "let's not be political" spinelessness or /tg/ chan culture, most of the ones that aren't are run by companies rather than fans, so this is really nice to see something like RPG.net do
And they're following through on it 👌
@Nerts GGGGGGG MY SKIN IS CLEANSED AND MY SOUL IS SHINING
@Nerts god that's so refreshing to see
@Nerts this image cleaned my pores and paid off my tuition
@Nerts Hell yeah, that's a good stance.
@Nerts make this post a punk song imo

@Nerts oh this is just wonderful 💙

(and by pure coincidence, a lovely birthday present too)

@Nerts well now I know where to post my game when it's ready

@Nerts

Why is this post cw'ed?

@hhardy01 I would imagine it's because it's pol adjacent content and many instances recommend CW'ing that sort of thing. In fact, some even have rules mandating that politics and politics adjacent content be CW'd. It's generally good form around here to CW pol (and other sensitive topics) with the opt-in culture of mastodon.

@Yarideki

I get that but frankly I don't object if people are exposed to political content they don't want to hear.

We are facing a rise of Fascism world-wide and last time, that cost us 30 million military and 60 million plus civilian casualties to defeat.

Weigh that against "OMG I read a thing--cover my eyes put my head in the sand put my fingers in my ears ."

There can be free speech and a free market of ideas, or there can be a heckler's veto against any controversial content. Not both.

@Nerts Beautiful. I would use that text on someone some day. :)
@Nerts Now that response actually has me laughing out loud.

@Nerts Actually "Ostracise, humiliate, shun, and berate" seems to be a great strategy because guys like this can't shut up about how much it bothers them.

it fuckin works.

@m_m_myers @Nerts TBH they're so used to getting their way online, they end up being incredibly thin-skinned when they can't flimflam their way past people with policy rules-lawyering, intolerance fallacy, and the rest of their rote tactics.
@HypnoFox @m_m_myers "Please be polite to me while I'm arguing against the rights of others, it's very rude" is both my most and least favourite argument to see
@Nerts @m_m_myers I honestly think their talking-point distributors noticed how well it worked with mainstream media and told them to apply it everywhere they could. Sadly it tends to work.

@Nerts

... wow I love it. Rpg.net is not usually my jam, but who ever this mod is, they have absolutely got it right.

@Nerts MAGNIFICIENT. ❤️

@Nerts Equally as good is the forum’s administrative note for that warning:

“No, we're not going to handwring over whether the left is not being accommodating ENOUGH to reactionary authoritarianism”

❤️

@Nerts I don't know who that moderator is, but I want to be their friend.
@Nerts How long until The 'I got punched by a soyboy and cried about it for three months' Quartering bitches about this?
@BossPoodle don't think I know who you mean?
@Nerts TheQuartering is some douche canoe that openly harassed a woman on twitter until she quit cosplaying because he was just that toxic and then Wizards of the Coast responded by formally banning him from every store and venue they could.
@Nerts This... is so nice... it's nice to see a place like this actually stand up to these arseholes.
@Nerts Well, I hope his supporters are excited and cheered by this example of the free and open market working trolololol
@Nerts props to them. major, major props to them.

@Nerts how does formal political neutrality align with "anyone who supports him is a white supremacist."

doesn't that seem.... stupid. like, incredibly stupid.
