@killeveryhetero @Authoritimmy tho i wonder how customizable the payload could be, like could it also transform to plain text but also include a markup version of the same thing for clients that support it? 
@anna @killeveryhetero it'd have to be in like Metadata or something, I don't know how hard that would be to work in. Then there's all the people in apps that would also lack support
@Authoritimmy @killeveryhetero i havent dug into how the protocol works, but if there's a way to include another payload that has a markup version that is just ignored by normal clients, that could do it
@Authoritimmy @killeveryhetero so basically your very special markup enabled server would generate a version of the message where it strips out markup, and then include an extra value/keypair/whatever with the markup version
