YES we'll be in Parliament Sq again at 6.30pm tonight cos #BrexitDoesntAddUp and this is how I'm choosing to spread the word. There were a dozen of us last week with picnic rugs + snacks. Come join :)

BUT ALSO today marks a change of pace, and we'll need VOLUNTEERS... (thread)

Before I get to that: here's where we'll be 6.30pm-8pm today and every Wednesday (the side of the square nearest Whitehall)

Facebook event page is here so sign up -> https://www.facebook.com/events/2284420878266141/

Okay so what's changing...

Weekly Wednesday Sit-Out for people concerned about Brexit

The challenge is this: MPs need to get the message

The news this week is: manufacturers ramping down production for exit day; lack of consensus on the Irish border; the NHS and workers rights at risk; lack of consensus on a Brexit deal of any form...

It does't need to happen

There's growing support for #PeoplesVote which tbh I don't have a strong view on. I'd be ok with an all-party commission to hold fire on exit day till we have a good, consensus future agreed. Anything to break this blind blunder off the cliff edge, and return to rational debate

One thing is CLEAR: voters are changing their minds. 112 constituencies that were majority Leave in the 2016 referendum are now majority Remain: https://www.bestforbritain.org/majority_constituencies_support_remain

You know what, we're all entitled to change our minds

YET our MPs are stuck. What to do?

Majority of constituencies now support Remain

New research shows that the country is shifted against Brexit - with a majority now supporting Remain.

I think our MPs need to be reminded that us--their voters--have decided that #BrexitDoesntAddUp

And not just in London, the home of the metropolitan liberal elite, where they can dismiss that message... but where their voters are, up and down the UK

So today:

We're going to start carrying the #BrexitDoesntAddUp message to every constituency in the UK, all 650 of them

I'm looking for volunteers to wear the t-shirt, and get a photo outside their local constituency office! So.. why?

We need something tangible to get our MPs and their staff to see what's going on

Once we've collected them all, we'll present the photos.

As postcards addressed individually? A poster they can stick up, a reminder of home? Maybe on the side of a bus... ahem. Ideas welcome!

We've made a start! Here's James at Richmond and North Kingston

Hey @[email protected], your voters have realised that #BrexitDoesntAddUp

Here's another! Dominic at Poplar and Limehouse

@[email protected] your voters, like you, believe that #BrexitDoesntAddUp

Just 648 to go! YES this is ridiculous, but if we can catch the attention of our MPs, we might just get them to think again :)

If you'd like to volunteer, or you can find others who will, DM me, or come tonight
