Always annoys me that d&d rolls a 20+mod for checks. This gives a random distribution of results , when people would really have a normal (Gaussian) distribution of results. 2d10+mod models actual people much better than 1d20+mod. Crit Range can be maintained at +1% odds if you extend it from (2-4) and (18-20) #dnd #math
@BenGoldman in one of the games I’m designing, all rolls are 3d6+mod. Crits are extended to 16-18, which is still roughly 10%
@dapperbear sounds nice and Gaussian. 6s just for more accessibility? I'm always gonna be partial to 12s. Those factors tho. šŸ˜ā€‹
@BenGoldman basically. I always try to keep the barrier to entry as low as possible, even though this particular one is semi-crunchy.
