genuinely that whole thread of people on  being ableist is one of the worst fucking things i have ever seen on the internet, one of them is like a professional writer on mental health!!!! fucking hell it is bad, grim grim grim stuff
i was blocked by one of the participants (probably for telling a fellow vice writer they sucked) so don't think i saw all of it but FUCK most of these people are literally employed as like voices of the left and they sound like fascists, ugh sorry to vent but FUCK these are not good people
my bet is that absolutely none of these people will face any consequences whatsoever for talking about disabled people in a way that's indistinguishable from sincere fascism but i am always willing to be surprised
@steamed___hams do you mean rey_z
@mellymeep @steamed___hams yeah. her and megan nolan are both professionally 'left wing writers' (even if nolan has a sunday times column lol) and james clee and hayley masi are self-professed socialists too. not one of them showing any kind of self-awareness of how it looks, if nothing else
@AnndraADunn @steamed___hams I unfortunately am very familiar with them that Hayley is the worst of the lot a right fucking nasty piece of work
@steamed___hams can someone tell me what happened?
@soconfused i think some of it still exists on twitter but it started with hayley masi talking about a photograph of herself "looking like bradley cooper as the elephant man" (?!?!?!?!) and this started a very long thread where lots of the infamous geniuses of left twitter laughed about how funny this was, i think at least some of it hasn't been deleted (but am blocked by some of the participants so might not even have seen all of it)
@steamed___hams @soconfused i think the only bit that got deleted was emily reynolds' picture of herself pulling a face, and more for vanity reasons than because she had a stab of conscience i think
@steamed___hams honestly i have zero expectations from that lot but I'm baffled any of them thought that conversation was ok
@i_a_n yeah quite apart from the morality of it the lack of self awareness is genuinely quite weird
@steamed___hams like it's a step up from the unacknowledged casual ableist language
