the latest in my series of low res footage of me laughing at films
if you haven’t seen Bram Stoker’s Dracula: GO GO GO and see it now
@steamed___hams I had to review this film for a year 9 project on gothic horror for English. Could believe how bad it was, Keanu's accent, the atrocious special effects, Dracula the character - just all incredible, 'I know where the bastard sleeps' seated in memory.
@joshsilvani hahaha i also had to see it in school (though from memory the teacher had to fast forward through all the sexy stuff) and i kinda have a soft spot for it??? i know it's materially not very good but as someone who grew up with almost nothing but underwhelming cgi i really like films that do ridiculous practical effects
@joshsilvani seriously, that whole scene, with the smash cut to the woman with her head cut off, it's really brilliant stuff, i can strongly recommend a rewatch (also winona ryder is really good)
@steamed___hams my teacher put it in at some point towards the end of year 11, I think to waste some time really, she turned it off few mins cause I couldn't stop laughing, was genuinely in tears - such a bizarre film. Am I remembering right that Tom Waits is in it and is genuinely the best actor in the film as well?
@joshsilvani haha yeah tom waits is indeed in it, i assume there's a story there, but it really is a fun film, gary oldman is really fun and winona ryder is very winona ryder
@steamed___hams Keanu almost makes the film a laughable farce but it's worth it for 90s Gary Oldman hamming it up and also Tom Waits just playing himself
@mokey it took me a really embarrassingly long time to work out that it was tom waits, i kept looking at him and saying "i'm sure i recognise him" and then near the end it all clicked. and yes gary oldman is just great isn't he, anthony hopkins, richard e. grant, winona ryder..... it's the magic of the movies!!!
