a very 2018 avenue of utopian sci-fi is imagining a far future Earth of humans who have learned to live sustainably in a deeply globally connected society without our anger tearing us to shreds
(i don't know for sure that it's possible but it seems like an important question to ask!)
@jplebreton this has inspired me to start looking into the research around parasocial relationships because I think currently the cultural understanding of the harm these cause is extremely poor

Have you heard the Reply All podcast episode "All My Pets"? It's sort of a fear and loathing trip into YouTube celebrity culture. I found it truly shocking and sad.
