Speaking of technological aesthetics, there’s one in particular that has been and needs to continue coming back...

TRANSPARENCY.

Let me see some GUTS on my tech.
What makes my daily driver TICK.
I wanna see inside of you, GIRL~.
@tahajin it is taking all of my willpower not to post gore here
@tahajin transparent tech is cool as fuck but it also makes me crazy nervous because it makes everything feel more fragile lmao
@tahajin Yeah, computers should be trans to suit their users
@tahajin the incredibly rare, special edition PS4 Pro that just dropped 💦💦💦
@ShugoWah yo WHAT THE FUCK???? I WANT THIS MORE THAN THE KH3 ONE
@DogCore only 50,000 were made and they are very much gone now, haha
@ShugoWah fuckin' rip :C
@DogCore @ShugoWah while I think the new one is SUPER cool, I still think that monhun world one is my favorite especial edition Pro. The controller...
@RyanSheebs @ShugoWah Holy canoli this is badass too!!! man why are they just now getting cool limited edition PS4's? I remember when I worked at GS and we had the battlefront one which was just a Darth Vader skin and I was super unimpressed.
@tahajin Yes! I miss translucent gadgets. I got the translucent PS4 controller.
@tahajin oh I really like that acrylic pc. aesthetic
@tahajin I don't trust hardware if I can't see it.
@tahajin @mangochutney Have we advanced far enough that our clear plastics no longer turn nasty ass cigarette smoker's walls yellow though?
@tahajin My first game system was a transparent purple Gameboy Color, so needless to say an official pair of Joycon in that style would be an instant-need for me.
@Retrodude Oh, I was about to say that those did absolutely exist before I went back and read ‘official’! I’m not sure if Nintendo’s ever going to do plastic clamshell again, but at least companies like NYKO are up to the task so you don’t have to rely on Etsy!
@tahajin Didn't know Nyko was getting into that, but anything that isn't a DIY solution is better for me. Already killed one half of a Joycon pair trying to replace the shell. :c
@tahajin I really love the look, but I really hate the RF noise.
@tahajin I did the Switch mod with D-pad and I love it.
@tahajin I'm mildly worried - aren't a lot of modern electronics sunlight-sensitive? I know you're not supposed to leave optical media out.
@qwertystop True enough, but the components that are photoreactive would be in their own opaque enclosures, I’d imagine!
@tahajin Which adds at least slightly to bulk, manufacturing complexity, and cost.
@qwertystop But that only applies to gadgets that have offending components which, of the list above, only one is guilty of that! - and the Switch rarely leaves my house, much less comes into contact with direct sunlight!
@tahajin Fair; I am insufficiently familiar with the details of the internals of electronics to know what sorts of things have this as a risk.
@tahajin know your device, stare into its innards, become one with the machine
