Actually, vocal ability had not yet evolved, but they could create an enormous array of toots, and some say the effective vocabulary may have been 800 different toots of varying lengths, scents, and pitches.
No paper airplane. But they did come up with a makeshift paper boat and an origami birds that flapped its wings.
