Kerning question: does anyone know of a reasonable scenario when /trademark would be anywhere but at the end of a word? I've kerned the right side of /trademark before but now I'm questioning if this is really necessary. Can this be skipped, or is there something I'm forgetting about? #typodon
@cjdunn Good question. Can’t think of anything but a hyphen occurring maybe? Also M isn’t the worst every glyph to space so maybe doesn’t really need kerning. But I play this back to #typodon. Not really the expert here

@kupfers yeah, good point. I would still kern punctuation like /hyphen /parenright /colon etc. But wondering if I can skip alphabetic kerns?

Indeed M isn't hart to space/kern. I'm just thinking about aiming for a light touch with kerning overall to A) avoid bloat in file size (#variableFonts) and B) save time/effort by trimming down kerning lists and proofs where possible. When kerning Optical Sizes, Weights, Widths, new var font axes… this stuff all adds up, so I'm rethinking some things🤔
