So far so good, despite my Ubuntu being 18.04... Fingers crossed.
@windruffle I don't want to be the harbinger of bad news, but based on what I can see in the screenshot the last command (dkms install) is the one that's going to give you hell...
@Antanicus no no go ahead :D. Following step by step the fix they suggest underneath... Am still hopeful...
@windruffle ah, workarounds, the daily bread of the linux user <3
@Antanicus @windruffle I don't get it, what's the problem?

@q @Antanicus my laptop is not amazing, so when I try installing a Linux distro I am always stuck with wireless adaptor not being identified, and printer. I am trying hard to ditch the Windows! (Every few months :D)
@windruffle @Antanicus FWIW I bought a ThinkPad for 83โ‚ฌ but my CPU gets really hot as soon as I go watching Netflix.

You may also install FreeBSD and have an OOTB compatibility with any Windows driver (through Wine?), better perfs, and a native GNU/Linux programs compatibility (games, etc.).

Anyway, if you've got a problem, please reach @pndr or myself and we'll try to help you. I fix my bluetooth every time I break or lose a laptop, and pulseaudio doesn't help.

@windruffle @q based on my experience, quality hardware is king. Cheap laptops/desktops/smartphones will ALWAYS give you hell when trying to liberate them from proprietary software due to the tricks used to keep them cheap in the first place (ie. obscure/undocumented hardware, knock-off chips, poor coding etc...)
@Antanicus @q yes it makes sense. My son berates me for that too. I just am constantly penniless.

- that wasn't my intention, please accept my apologies if I sounded like if I was berating you in even the slightest way!

@Antanicus @q haha don't worry I meant it nicely!
@Antanicus they're what attract me and what scare me! I was pretty good at manipulating Windows so I hate not knowing what's going on in Linux. But every few months I get determined and try again!
