A surprise rush hour snowfall and pick up trucks is a near guarantee for near misses and inattentive drivers barely avoiding killing folks. Sigh.

It could be funny if all of the due care of existing on the road didn’t rest solely on the folks walking or biking.

I’m also a wee bit mad after having to avoiding getting squished 3 times in only 3 km.

I got one final #NoseHillPark walk in before the end of 2013, with similar conditions to earlier in the week, just not as sunny. No wonder: we got rain on New Year’s Eve for the first time in recorded history (since 1882) — 2.1 mm before midnight. #yyc #yycwx #yycwalk

It is a rare treat to go for a walk on #NoseHillPark this late in December. Trails were mostly dry or packed snow, so easy to traverse with running shoes. A Fall/Spring jacket was all that was needed with temperatures hovering around 7-10°C (45-50°F). Did just shy of 6 km in 1h04. #yyc #yycwalk

A speeding BMW came within less than a metre of hitting me today in a crosswalk.

I had started to cross a residential street and saw/heard the car coming, but it was well over a block away when I entered the crosswalk.

As I crossed, I noticed the driver wasn't slowing down. I stopped walking just before stepping into the lane he was driving in. He zoomed past, just in front of me. I'm not sure he saw me at all.

If I hadn't stopped crossing, he would 100% have hit me. 😧
