I ran up against international limitations of tex / latex / pdflatex yesterday. I found wkhtmltopdf and got it working with all 13 languages that the Brain Computer Enterprises, Cooperative Inc. ( @bce ) website currently supports. Today, I am completing the conversion of the PDF order receipt generation from pdflatex to wkhtmltopdf.

wkhtmltopdf and wkhtmltoimage are open source (LGPLv3) command line tools to render HTML into PDF and various image formats using the Qt WebKit rendering engine.

Unfortunately these projects do not work as expected, perhaps because they are not being maintained properly.

I’m flabbergasted. I’ve been using #wkhtmltopdf for over a decade now I think to generate my PDF’s. Always without issue. But since some months the footers in my PDF’s would not show anymore. After a couple of renderings it would work again. But now it simply won’t anymore.

Nothing has changed in the styling of my HTML. Remove styling? It shows up. Remove the header? It shows up. Remove the image from the header? Locally the footer shows, remotely it doesn’t. It’s the same Docker container!
