Today I went to see the inaugural lecture of someone who became a full professor. She is about the same age as me and it made me reflect about leaving academia. Five years ago I would have been very jealous of this person, now I’m mostly happy for her and vaguely wonder what my life had been like in the alternate universe where I had stayed in academia. The academic brainwashing is strong and hard to get rid of. #altac #withaphd #recoveringacademic
