No matter how much WisGOP whines, the numbers show that rural Wis is getting the largest bumps in state road aids and shared revenues in the 2023-25 #wibudget.

That's fine - it makes up for lower property tax base and no one should have 2nd-class infrastructure. But don't complain about a tiny Evers veto that is a fraction of the extra money the rurals are getting. http://jakehasablog.blogspot.com/2023/08/fiscal-bureau-reminds-us-that-rural.html

Rural Wisconsin is getting the bigger state aid boosts in this budget, no matter what GOPs tell you.

I wanted to revisit a post I made a couple of weeks back that discussed a veto Governor Evers made on road funding that made many rural Re...

Updated figures from LFB say Wisconsin will have $4 billion in the bank when #wibudget ends, after vetoes from @GovEvers
.
That gives a second chance for a fairer tax cut, funding child care, or other things we need. If we choose.

Can do it now, or at start of 2024 with new revenues in place. Or after 2024 with new maps? http://jakehasablog.blogspot.com/2023/07/state-take-billions-out-of-bank-for.html

State take billions out of the bank for 2023-25 budget, but still have $4 billion left.

We got an update today about how much more money will be in the state's bank account after Governor Evers' vetoes. And it's a bit more t...

Evers puts in veto that raises revenue limits for K-12 schools for next 400 years.

WisGOPs claim this will result in "permanent property tax increases", but that's not true. All that has to be done is to raise state aids by similar % as in 2024, and no property taxes are needed to pay for the rest.

THAT's what WisGOP is angry about, isn't it? http://jakehasablog.blogspot.com/2023/07/evers-adds-school-funding-wisgops-claim.html

Evers adds K-12 funding. WisGOPs claim it's a property tax increase. But it doesn't have to be

Wanted to give a few more thoughts on this action from last week from Governor Ope-lander. https://t.co/8i278wsMoO pic.twitter.com/BHM8t0...

New @WisPolicyForum report has Wisconsin's state + local tax burden at lowest in more than 50 years, and more state tax cuts likely.

With local govts and K-12 schools struggling to make ends meet, and nearly $7 BILLION in the bank, isn't it time for state to help them out?

How low will it go? 50-year low in Wis tax burden set to drop even more

With nearly $7 billion projected to be available in the State of Wisconsin's bank account on June 30, it looks almost certain that there ...

From Jake on Twitter

If Wisconsin has $9.75 BILLION in the bank to play with in next #wibudget, what can we do?

How about taking schools/local govt off of property tax, paying more to fix roads and cut wheel taxes, and some kind of income tax cut?

What can Wisconsin do with these billions? I have some ideas

I mentioned yesterday that we got new estimates yesterday from the Evers Administration indicating that we may have as much as $6.6 billio...
