17/11/25: Today I used up the rest of a second bag of cocciopesto. I finally closed the gaps in the wall with a mortar mix of cocciopesto:promptcement at 2:1, plus some hemp shives. This should buffer the temperature difference between cold and warm, and reduce condensation thanks to the improved insulation of the wall. The cocciopesto in the cement makes the mortar more elastic and more permeable to vapor, while the hemp shives provide slightly better insulation. The romancement offers better adhesion to the stone/iron and allows greater layer thicknesses to be applied in a single pass.
The good thing about 100% natural mortar/cement is that you can dispose of the leftovers in the environment without hesitation. It can even improve the soil because no artifical and plastic additives are used.

September 2023: Finally we managed to re-lay the main water pipe for house and stable at frost depth and add two gate valves. It was a lot of manual work to insert the in- and outgoing pipes into the wall having only a narrow space in the corner.

Finally we are able to shut off the main water pipe with a ball valve in the event of a burst water pipe. We took the opportunity to lay an additonal empty tube for the future underground electrical supply line for the stable.

2023: Old rusty iron main water pipe section uncovered, rerouted by replacing fittings (brass and red brass) and closed afterwards.
I liked the old temporary 3d #artwork on the wall, but can live with the new one as well.
Hemp is a long-term and reliable seal for threaded fittings.

i have been thrown back into childhood memories when i came across MISCHA LEINKAUF'S photo series „endogenous error terms“.
as kids we were discovering the era close to our homes in a tiny village in the middle of nowhere. climbing trees, walking through forests & fields, following the courses of the rivers and creeks. until there was a underground pipe. there were rumors: "take care, there are sharp wires inside" or "there is a junction in the middle!“ it was a dare to step into the dark hole. the acoustics echoing. the slow acclimatisation of the eyes sensing the surface. the light reflections when we reached the end of the tunnel. still hidden, safe, an invisible observer of the world outside.
