www.bullarah-fauna.pictures An influx of migratory birds to inland NSW

It has been sometime since my last mailout. How the landscape has changed since years of drought. Since 8th February 2020 whilst city dwellers were going into lockdowns we've had 3 magical years. Regular welcomed rainfall and flooding events has filled the soil profile across the floodplain. Where the Gingham Floodplain crosses Morialta Road a large mudflat was formed over 3km long and 500m+ wide. This has drawn migratory birds from everywhere, birds that don't normally venture to the inland yet alone Australia! And large flocks of Banded Lapwings 800+, Red-capped Plovers 400+ etc.

Murray Cod vanishing from the Darling-Baaka

Appalling water management is to blame for the complete eradication of the iconic Murray Cod in stretches of the Darling-Baaka River in New South Wales.
