Before the human project on this planet comes to an end, I’m going to embark on something old-fashioned: a series of urban walks intended to excavate the layers of geography, history, struggle, infrastructure, technology and everyday making-do that sediment into our experience of place. Starting in 2009, my partner Nurri Kim and I conducted what we called “walkshops” in cities around the world, including London, Toronto, Wellington NZ & Barcelona — slow, considered, collective investigations of urban terrain, examining ways in which information was drawn off of that terrain, returned to it, or acted upon.

I’ve been really pleased to see a resurgence of interest in the walkshop idea lately, and so thought it might be interesting to dig up the free PDF on running walkshops we produced for Giles Lane’s Pamphleteer project in 2011. Heute, 16.8.25 14 Uhr machen wir einen #Walkshop - einen Testspaziergang als Workshop zur Erstellung eines Walks mit Karte.

Dieser soll dann als Basis für weitere Walks dienen. Diese sollen potentiell auch in Zukunft in mehreren Sprachen stattfinden. Und wir nehmen einzelne Dateien für einen Audiowalk auf, damit Leute auch alleine zB von der Jugendherberge aus Gaarden erkunden können.
