Floods impact communities long after the water recedes:
Currently trucks from Perth have to drive via SA and NT to reach the East Kimberley area in WA. A temporary barge system is proposed until the Fitzroy River bridge is replaced by new dual lane and higher bridge. Derby only accessible by air atm - govt increasing subsidy so number of flights can increase.
