From Terrible Maps through W. G. Sebald to “Finnegans Wake"

Today on Terrible Maps, I saw a map of a journey from Toledo to Athens through Milan, Lisbon, Paris, Berlin, Warsaw, Dublin, London, and Moscow. That would be an unusual journey in Europe, but the map was of Ohio, which has towns with all of those names. That reminded me

W. G. Sebald | KCRW

Austerlitz (Random House) What Thomas Mann was to the 1940's and Albert Camus to the 1950's probably places the German writer W. G. Sebald in relation to our new century. In this conversation,…

Strange little article thst.

Plays games with the readers' attention, while flittering around the genocide which allowed whites to settle Australia.

There is truth which is too much to face up to on first encounter.

I have feared for some time that it will take severe consequences to jolt enough Americans out of their fancies.

The book linked has the Germans, about 10 years after the marching and rallying described above, slipping from their Nazi fancy into studied avoidance of considering the hell that had come for them after the marching and rallying.
