🚨📢 For those with 12+ year old CPUs & looking to upgrade to #vSphere80U2 👀☝️

While its only vSphere UI feature currently - In #vSphere80U2 you can now easily export an existing vSphere w/Tanzu deployment and either re-use that or even templatize that for future deployments.

With #vSphere80U2, you can now also deploy Windows VM using the VM Service in vSphere w/Tanzu! 🥳

One thing to note, there's behavior change from earlier releases, you need to now use Name (vmi-* string) versus Image Name which avoids any potential naming conflicts.

If you're looking to use the new Reduced Downtime Time (RDU) feature for vCenter Server in #vSphere80U2

Be sure to check out this KB https://kb.vmware.com/kb/92659 that was just published yesterday w/lot of useful info, including supported topologies (current/future)

Just completed my #vSphere80U2 rollout, ESXi upgrade was last. My Supermicro E200-8D is still running like a champ!

ESXI_VERSION=ESXi-8.0U2-22380479-standard

esxcli software profile update -d https://hostupdate.vmware.com/software/VUM/PRODUCTION/main/vmw-depot-index.xml -p ${ESXI_VERSION} --no-hardware-warning

#vSphere80U2 now has over 2K+ Events in vCenter Server https://github.com/lamw/vcenter-event-mapping/blob/master/vsphere-8.0u2.md

That's a LOT of #EventDrivenAutomation potential with #VEBA 😎 Quick diff, shows a lot more new core storage/vSAN events along with bunch of other operational events that would benefit admins

Finally looking over the #vSphere80U2 release notes, there's so many freaking new features & capabilities!

A couple of the ESXi ones stand that out to me include support for systems w/IBECC (In-band error-correcting code) memory, which is HUGE as we typically only support ECC

Updated Nested ESXi Virtual Appliance for #vSphere80U2 is now available including latest #vSphere70U3N

Happy lab deployments! Enjoy 😎
