In the upheaval and dread that followed the fall of the Western Roman Empire, many people abandoned cities to build monasteries in remote places. They gathered into communities to do, together, meaningful work – "ora et labora" Saint Benedict's motto.

Fifteen years ago, we at @edgeryders prototyped a non-religious Unmonastery to reconcile work with making meaning. Perhaps it is time to explore that idea some more.
