Coast outdoor fabric by Ultrafabrics

Dezeen Showroom: textile manufacturer Ultrafabrics has launched a new durable fabric called Coast that combines indoor style with outdoor performance.

The high-performance Coast fabric has been engineered to withstand the elements and deflect against surface pathogens such as mildew and bacteria.

It also boasts UV-resistant properties while remaining cool to the touch and is water-resistant, in both chlorinated and salt water.

Coast is designed to withstand demanding conditions and is water and UV-resistant

Coast underwent rigorous testing to ensure it was durable and resilient in adverse conditions.

Ultrafabrics spent two years monitoring its performance with marine manufacturers who exposed the fabric to sun, water, stains and cleaning agents, as well as examining its durability when used by children and pets.

The fabrics were subject to extensive durability tests but maintained their appearance and quality

Each colour variation was individually tested to assess their endurance. Amongst the tests conducted were abrasion and weathering tests, in which the fabric was monitored in the dry heat of Arizona and the humid climate of Florida.

In both tests, the fabric maintained its appearance, performance, and quality in each environment, with no peeling, cracking, or delamination.

The Coast fabric collection comes in a palette that captures coastline colours

The Coast fabric is intended to deliver style and comfort for outdoor living and marine applications, as well as commercial spaces.

It has a soft pebble grain and comes in an expansive palette of 15 colours, which were chosen to encapsulate the tranquility and organic beauty of coastlines.

UF Select textiles by Ultrafabrics

Dezeen Showroom: US textile manufacturer Ultrafabrics has launched UF Select, a collection of upholstery fabrics that pays homage to traditional Mexican handicrafts.

The UF Select range is crafted in collaboration with a local manufacturing team and designed to "joyfully and boldly explore colours, patterns and textures".

"We were very selective when seeking out a mill partner, hence the name UF Select," said Jennifer Hendren, Ultrafabrics' senior director of product development.

"Similar to our deep connection with our manufacturing team and culture in Japan, UF Select has an equally meaningful connection and inspiration with our partners in Mexico."

Some of the fabrics emulate woven linen

The range includes two styles of synthetic fabric in different colourways. The first, called Lino, emulates woven linen and is available in pared-back neutral shades.

The second style, named Montage, is designed to offer a weathered leather look and is available in warm reddish hues and other shades influenced by nature.

All of the fabrics have been developed to withstand regular cleaning, making them ideally suited to upholstery.

Spectra performance textile by Ultrafabrics

Dezeen Showroom: Ultrafabrics has released Spectra, a new performance textile for upholstery that replicates the woven look of cloth.

Spectra is made of polycarbonate for strength and longevity but has a tone-on-tone prismatic pattern that looks woven.

Spectra has a colour palette inspired by the Bauhaus movement

Like all of Ultrafabrics textiles, it is made to withstand years of use and cleaning without losing its shape, making it suitable for seating in residential, workplace and hospitality environments, as well as recreational vehicles.

It is also engineered with proprietary technology that allows the fabric to breathe, meaning it it can help to moderate body temperature.

The fabric's tone-on-tone pattern makes the textile look woven

It can withstand regular cleaning and disinfection, including with bleach.

According to Ultrafabrics, Spectra's bold colour palette of 19 shades is inspired by the Bauhaus movement. It includes bright options as well as neutral and complex colours.
