On the threat of mass redundan...
What I've learned about #academia over these #UCUstrikes is that too many of us (& for sure I'm not immune!) value the "output" of our jobs over our colleagues we do it with.
Sure, we need to enjoy our job and feel it is making a difference; and we want our stuff read and engaged with - it's what gives us our worth. But the chronic alienation of contemporary academic work is a massive factor of the current ills, which we fundamentally need to address.
For those involved in the #UCU industrial action (and beyond!), this Universities & College Union (UCU) podcast episode is useful in explaining, reviewing, and discussing the recent offers made in disputes over pay, working conditions and pensions. ✊
