Starfish on Instagram: "Captain Fate: An Introduction ⚓ (of sorts) This concept came into existence quite organically. I had been playing around with dressing up as a time travelling pirate for a few faires in the last years. When I dyed my hair pink for a casual cosplay of Mirabel from the novel "The Starless Sea" at Gamescom, I put on my pirate hat just for fun and discovered I enjoyed the mixed look. So I tweaked some threads of the story and made up an alternate ending. (There's an earlier post about that; referenced in the "Captain Fate" highlight.) Currently, it's a shifting amalgam of my original time travelling pirate, alternate universe Mirabel, and the pirate from the story, with a hint of guardian gold dust. I won't go full-on cosplayer mode; this is simply a way for me to casually enjoy myself at events, and a creative outlet. There are plans for a few additions to the outfit and accessories to fit into different contexts. The hair colour is likely to change over time, too. As to why I'm calling this persona "Captain Fate", well, go read the book (or ask me). ********* One of my favourites of the pictures @raerreki took of me last Saturday. (Please ignore the glasses; these are simply my normal glasses and not meaningful to the character in any way.) #CaptainFate #cosplay #casualcosplay #mirabelthestarlesssea #TheStarlessSea #pirate #timeandfate #timetravel #timetravellingpirate #alternateuniverse #polaris2024 #polarisconvention #oc #acrosstimeandspace"
