Throttle Back
One of the pieces that has been waiting on a bigger printer is a new back for my CVP wireless throttle. There was nothing wrong with the old back, except that it was attached to a throttle that would be found at some random place around the train room – kind of like the TV remote. Yet, I have a handy piece of channel attached to the fascia for just this sort of thing. All I needed was a hook.
The new back took two attempts because the battery box cover didn’t fit well the first time; to tell the truth it is still a little snug, but these throttles sip batteries slowly. On the second go-around, I added two tubes up the side. One tube holds the pen, which finds its own random location in the room, often separate from the throttle. The other tube holds the uncoupling dental tool, in case the engineer eats some popcorn.
With a nice wide, thick hook on the back the throttle hangs securely from the channel. When the steam throttle comes along, I have a feeling this will be the standard operating mode. That throttle is a bit bulkier, and I imagine it will be more comfortable to leave it in place and run it from the fascia.
