SlowRainFirst-grade students' short memories are a blessing & a curse. I can scold some of them in class for making noise & they'll still come back later & share their post-test party snacks with me. I just wish they would remember more of what I taught in class for those tests. 😐
I teach about 200-250 different students a week, so it's hard to remember all their names. I recently saw a small group of former students from 2 years ago & remembered all their names.
I have a grade-5 student who is the craziest, most uninhibited class clown I've ever seen in my life. Fortunately, he's more tolerable now than he once was, & I only have 1 more year with him before he graduates on to another school.
Well, last night, I met his younger brother who will be starting grade 1 in the fall. Guess who gets to spend 6 more years teaching his clone. 😐
Today was my 3rd week without shaving. As one of my little first-graders finished reading to the class at the front of the classroom & was walking past my chair, she reached out & brushed my cheek with her hand. Then she giggled all the way back to her desk. Brave kid. That's only the second time a student has done that to me.
Teaching vowels. Hey, at least it makes my students laugh. And it's easier to teach if they're in a happy mood. 😁
STUDENT: Teacher, I'm dumb!
ME: Say "done".
STUDENT: Okay. Teacher, I'm done!
Taiwanese boys howl with laughter when I say "beginning". All they hear is "比基尼", the Chinese word for "bikini".
