Sarah packed her bags & embarked on a journey to visit her 76-year-old mother, who lived across the country. This is part of GE Moore's proof of the existence of the external world:

I knew that there was one hand in the place indicated by combining a certain gesture with my first utterance of ‘here’ and that there was another in the different place indicated by combining a certain gesture with my second utterance of ‘here’. How absurd it would be to suggest that I did not know it, but only believed it, and that perhaps it was not the case!

The train was late. He wasn't one to sit around. A patch of wildflowers caught his eye and before he knew it, he was down on creaky knees -- concrete cutting into skin -- with fingers in the dirt, removing stone and debris. A small girl watched and he beckoned her over. His train arrived. He wiped as much dirt away as possible from his hands. The girl was still hard at work as the train pulled out, the flowers bright with color.
