There are actually 3 varieties of 'mokusei' (木犀 'sweet olives'): kinmokusei (金木犀 osmanthus fragrans var. aurantiacus), the less fragrant ginmokusei (銀木犀 osmanthus fragrans var. fragrans), and the much less common usugimokusei (薄黄木犀 osmanthus fragrans var. thunbergii).

Kinmokusei (キンモクセ), in English known as sweet osmanthus, fragrant olive and tea olive, was brought to Japan from China in the Edo period.

The plant was used for both medical and culinary purposes, and also as a natural air freshener.

The flower symbolizes truth and nobility.

I don't see a lot they all talk about. I don't have Netflix, Apple, Disney, Max. BUT , I do have #sunshine, the #trees. Blue #skies. #Birds singing. #Squirrels leaping. #SweetOlive fragrance. Oh, my, a fragrance to die for 😊💕😊
#SweetOlive is blooming! For those not familiar, this evergreen large shrub/small tree produces tiny white/yellow flowers in cool October and cool March. As totally insignificant as they look, these tiny beauties put out the MOST fragrant, MOST sweet, MOST powerful smell you will ever know. It spreads throughout the entire yard. Such a treat.
