Reverse Seasonal Affective Disorder sufferers revel in the return of 'gloomy, dreary' days

I worked all weekend so I didn’t get to post much, but AUGUST IS OVER! Thanks to everyone who left nice comments on my #summerSAD checkin posts.
#summerSAD check in! It’s ok to have things that make you happy in the short term.
Check in time for #summerSAD: working all weekend. It’s not great for the mental health, but my superpower is masking so there’s that. I am making it a point to feed myself not-entirely-junk things like a veggie burrito bowl from Chipotle (nice because it lasts me a whole shift) and I have a black tea latte I made at home. Some of my favorite coworkers are here tonight so that also helps.
#summerSAD check in! Of all months, this is the worst one for me to forget to take my Wellbutrin...AND YET. I forgot it for 3 days last week. It helps both my ADHD & my depression. This is one of the things that pisses me off most when people say “if it’s important to you, you’ll remember it.” That’s patently untrue for some of us. If it’s important, we’ll still forget it. We’ll just guilt ourselves harder about it when we do!
#summerSAD check in! Of all things, I got a GI bug which left me super nauseated for a couple of days. NOT a good thing for taking your daily meds. I only missed 2 days of wellbutrin though, so hopefully not too bad. Today is another excessive heat warning, which is one of the things about summer that I hate the most. I have a list of stuff to do today, but I won’t hold myself to the whole thing. Even if I just get a couple things done, I’ll be happy.
Managed a little twilight potter around the garden which has helped ease the #SummerSAD a little. Outside is where my mind is at ease so not being able to get out in the heat leads to spiralling anxiety. Just tomorrow to get through now and then cooler temps!

#summerSAD check in! I’m at work. It’s one of those weird days when my Ritalin helps me focus but also makes me quiet, kinda irritable, & way more introverted. Not a great side effect in my job, where I literally go into rooms and ask people what their problem is. (LOL it sounds mean when I put it that way!)

Things I am doing to maintain my mood today: clothes that are wildly comfortable and also very cute, metallic eyeshadow, a delightful salad to bring to work with some black bean soup.

Do I have any other summer seasonal affective disorder folks? I’ll be doing August depression check-ins throughout the month, just in case anyone else wants to go through it together!

August is my absolute least favorite month. It’s still SCORCHING here in Arkansas (and most other places I imagine) but school comes back in session & we have to go back to “normal” instead of taking more vacation time, which we absolutely SHOULD BE when it’s this catastrophically hot. MEH. #summerSAD #fucksummer
