#mastodon #help

Hello!

I have a question about tags on mastodon.

For example if currently I follow #someTag, do I see all tags from every server?

If not how I can increase range of visibility for this tag? Right now I'm afraid that I'm missing something :(

@supernovae @markstahl lots of possibilities to increase the affordances in hashtag, discoverability, and search. I muse: could have a section under compose that says "Discoverable to: Your follower + Searches for: #sometag, #sometag", add more..." This would be clear and encourage more hashtag usage. As a UX designer, I love this stuff.

@Graycot Interesting. Have you used it? How does that work?

Is it like the kind of command-line XMPP interface that Twitter and Laconica had back in the day?

"follow theUser"
"ok"
"search #someTag"
"12354 blabla some post"
"12345 blabla some other post"
"reply 12345 @theUser yes I agree"

The link in the switching social post has an URL to their profile in the format

instance.tld/@user/tagged/sometag

Which links to the profile and only shows toots with the #sometag hashtag.

For example the following shows all my toots with the #mastoadmin tag: https://bullgit.party/@kevin/tagged/mastoadmin

🧙‍♂️ &>/dev/magic (@[email protected])

7. Auto lists

Automatically add someone to #sometag list, when they tooted #sometag at least 10 times so far..

1. Ask Mastodon / Discussion tag

Either use @#sometag or ##sometag to ask questions / opinions to Mastodon users who recently tooted about #sometag.. maybe last 100 users..

Consider this as CC to specific user group.

Discussion tag can be maintained at user level.. users maintain this at their profile level, pull toots, and participate in discussions..

It can be federation servers, or global Mastodon level.

Tusky or frontend may show this as #sometag, and style differently than regular tag.

@Gargron oh, I understand.

Pls consider this as feature request.

Let users (optionally) receive notification, and participate in a discussion about #sometag, if they tooted about it, and their toot is one of last 100 toots.

@b_cavello yes, also should be able to be combined with use searches, so you can search for
@someuser #sometag #othertag

and that would make combined tags finally extinct
by combined tags i mean ugliness like:
