Story snippet no. 3:
"'I don't want to insult nobody!' Otto's confusion was quickly shifting towards snappish anger, 'besides, you two folks do look like drunk buffalos. But not because of the hair. I mean, apparently there are none on your big, red, bloated heads. But because...'
'So now I'm interested Otto! Why do we remind you of buffalos?'"
Story snippet no. 2 (2/2):
"Tómasz had been a rather calm and genuinely friendly sort of host for this boozy evening. But now he couldn't help but boast into laughter 'you hear that Wacek? He thinks you're a buffalo! A big, drunk wisent buffalo!'"
Story snippet no. 2 (1/2):
"'Shut up Tómasz! Give our German friends a glass of good Polish vodka instead!'
'Tak, Wacek, tak. Calm down. You're gonna be drunk soon enough,' Tómasz had replied, while pouring some of the colorless liquid into every glass on the table.
'What does »Wacek« mean?' Otto had asked after a couple more glasses of the good »Żubrówka« vodka. 'Does it mean »wisent«? Like the animal on the label of the bottle?'"
A snippet from a story I'm working on:
"The few clouds, the evening sky, the buildings on the other side of the Rhine, everything was painted in shades of pink and purple. Only the sun was still glowing bright like a golden thaler. It was slowly sinking down beyond the horizon, a treasure being received and stored by the Vosges."
