It's not quite right, but you might like to experiment with instead of running that second reset running

stty cbreak; tput ti; kill -WINCH 0

These are just a bodge. The #urwid library and #sncli should be fixed.

#ncurses #termcap

@rl_dane

It would have to be more complex than that: a tool that sets cursor addressing mode and non-canonical input mode back up after nvi exits (which is when nvi tears down cursor addressing mode and all that stuff).

reset actually does the opposite of that.

Sadly, #ncurses, which #urwid can be layered on top of, is quite capable of switching between 'prog' and 'shell' modes; but this is simply not used by urwid and is not even the urwid underpinning that is chosen by #sncli anyway.

@rl_dane

#sncli relies on a Python library named #urwid that simply has no concept of temporarily restoring the canonical terminal mode whilst shelling out to external programs.

I remember in the olden days, before iCloud was much of a thing, the Notes app in MacOS and iOS would sync to your email account, so they were always in sync, and even somewhat viewable from your ordinary email client, IIRC.

Just curious, in case something happens to #SimpleNote or my favorite client, #sncli, is there a cross-platform solution for syncing notes with email? Something that can work on #Android, #GUI, and #TUI/command-line?

#sncli is back up. Phew!!!

I wish I knew how to get in touch with the dev. The project hasn't been updated in a couple years, and his only socials listed are the really crappy ones.

Ohhhh crap, #sncli is broken again.

I wish I understood why this happened, and how I might be able to help it.
The project seems stagnant, I may need to find an alternative. :E

Whew, it seems #sncli is back up this morning. Made me worry for a bit, because I rely on it to use #SimpleNote without having to use the bloated electron app

@thelinuxcast

I mean where there *is* a help screen, but it just isn't searchable.
