MLB's top-ranked first-base prospect has posted an .830 OPS in 19 Cactus League games, but also struck out in 38 percent of his plate appearances.

McCray had a decent spring, hitting .267 with a home run and three stolen bases in 18 games. He also posted a 7:6 BB:K ratio in 39 plate appearances. However, McCray has struggled in his limited time with the Giants, slashing a combined .185/.226/.349 in 156 plate appearances in 2024 and 2025. He hit .250 with 15 home runs and 27 stolen bases with Sacramento in 110 games last season. He'll report there to open 2026, but should eventually make his way back to San Francisco at some point.

Fitzgerald was attempting to break camp on the Giants' Opening Day roster, but the infielder went just 7-for-36 (.194) with a 14:0 K:BB ratio in 19 games this spring. Fitzgerald broke onto the scene in 2024, when he hit .280 with 15 home runs and 17 stolen bases in 96 games with the Giants. However, he could not repeat that success last season, hitting just .217 with four home runs in 72 games. He'll open the season with Triple-A Sacramento, but it's likely he'll be in a Giants' uniform at some point.

Eldridge slashed .231/.388/.462 with six extra base hits - including a home run - and six RBI in 18 games this spring with the Giants. However, the 21-year-old slugger struck out 19 times in 39 at bats. Eldridge, one of the top prospects in baseball, made his major league debut last season but went just 3-for-28 with four RBI in 10 games with the Giants. With the move, Eldridge will get more time to develop as he will have the opportunity to play first base every day at Triple-A Sacramento. It may not be a popular move, but it's the right move by the Giants. There will be plenty of time in the near future to see Eldridge's power at Oracle Park.
