Recently, my friend & colleague, @novalis, celebrated a birthday. You know Novalis for #Semantle. But long ago, he & I worked together enforcing #GPL & #LGPL. He's forever on my top 5 list of “iconic copyleft enforcers”.
I'll never forget what Novalis said to me was one of the reasons he quit in 2006: “enforcing GPL makes me think like a cop, & I don't like thinking like a cop.” I took this as sage advice & I've tried in the 20 years since to enforce copyleft while not thinking like a cop.
