Within the right confines, #BuyEuropean could be helpful in overcoming some of the EU's dependences (e.g. in the field of technology or defense). #Séjourné also explicitly called it a "European preference" - products which are not available in Europe (like coffee and bananas), would obviously need to be procured elsewhere.

It's hard to overstate how unhelpful EU Commissioner #Séjourné's new #BuyEuropean push is.

Of course they are. Good luck getting coffee and banana's from European producers. 🙄

Instead of using public #procurement as industrial policy tool, governments should use it to buy ethical, value-based & with societal purpose.
