Romania wants a piece of Europe’s defense pie

Bucharest is looking for industrial returns as Europe rushes to rearm, Romanian Defense Minister Liviu-Ionuț Moșteanu tells POLITICO.

POLITICO

Seems like AUKUS is being discussed every other day. Everyone has an opinion on the gear and the money to be spent on it. But I have yet to hear one word, just one word about the men and women we, Australians, would send in harm's way should the shit hit the fan. Just one word about their safety. On word about providing the best equipment moneyt can buy to give our small military a fighting chance to come back alive. Just one word about ADF members who will put their lives on the line to do our bidding when called.

All I hear, all I see, is a bunch of ill informed journalists/politician and defence wonks with an axe to grind for whatever reasons. Supposed experts with nary a word about the ADF personnel, the mission, the strategies, the tactical situations and an informed view on the equipment the ADF needs to do the job they are tasked with.

If it were up to me I'd give every ADF personnel the very best money can buy for the tasks they are asked to perform in peace and in war. #TaxTheRich and we'd have dosh left over for social needs as well as a credible defence force, itself a social need.
