The original vision of acid-filled secondary processors has been replaced with less exotic (and expensive) alternatives, like "#SecureEnclaves." With a secure enclave, the manufacturer saves on the expense of installing a whole second computer, and instead, they draw a notional rectangle around a region of your computer's main chip and try *really hard* to make sure that it can only perform a very constrained set of tasks.
