'The Stone Boat'
Afaik it was built by the people of Port Chalmers as a protest when the Port Authority proposed to fill in the Back Beach to utilize it for their purposes. The Port argued that the Back Beach wasn't used much for people's enjoyment anyway...
boy were they wrong!
These days Back Beach is enjoyed by many locals and visitors on a daily basis and the Stone Boat is liked by young and old and repaired when needed
