I love @molly0xfff's reporting as the next annoying guy on mastodon. This line in her recent newsletter struck me as odd:
'They [the Bankman-Fried's] seem unable to accept that their brilliant son committed fraud, unable to stop posting through it, and unable to recognize that their campaign to free him is only making things worse.'
There is nothing brilliant about Sam Bankman Fried. He is a phoney and he has always been one. I'm sure that he did well in school and thought about things a bit. He has always come across to me as an entitled little shit who had it easy. He probably doesn't understand the first thing about accounting, hence all the so called balance sheets. The numbers went up, he made money. The numbers came down, he lost money and committed a massive fraud to try to deal with the problem. He certainly doesn't understand anything about the consequences of his behaviour on other people, hence the laughably stupid effective altruism.
