There's a protest myth that liberals love to repeat.

Be peaceful so you don't give the cops an excuse to brutalize you.

The fact is that the cops are gonna brutalize you when they get the order to, whether you're sitting and singing kumbaya or not. It's got nothing to do with the actions of you and your fellow protestors. It has to do with when they get the word to swoop in and brutalize you, that's what's going to happen. When some higher up gets his manties in a bunch and decides it's time to crush some skulls.

So do us all a favor and stop saying that crap. It's false and creates dangerous situations for others out there on the streets with you.

The state is the perpetrator of violence, both visible and invisible. The state is going to go medieval on your ass when they feel like it. No excuse necessary.
