Smith MD, AM on Instagram: "Taylor Water Technologies Phosphate Reagent #1 Bottles Are Dangers To Children These reagent bottles fail to meet child-resistant packaging requirements under the Poison Prevention Packaging Act (PPPA). The bottles contain sulfuric acid and create a risk of severe chemical burns to the skin and eyes and, if swallowed, internal corrosive burns. About 10,000 units were sold nationwide in pool and aquarium stores and online at taylortechnologies.com and other websites from August 2022 through August 2024. The recalled bottles were included in Taylor Phosphate Test Kits #K-1106 but were also sold separately. Immediately stop using these recalled Phosphate Reagent #1 bottles and store them away from children. Contact Taylor Water Technologies at 1-800-837-8548 for proper disposal instructions and a free replacement bottle. Only unexpired bottles are eligible for replacement. https://www.cpsc.gov/Recalls/2025/Taylor-Water-Technologies-Recalls-Phosphate-Reagent-Bottles-Sold-with-Test-Kits-Due-to-Risk-of-Severe-Chemical-Burns-Violation-of-Federal-Regulation-for-Child-Resistant-Packaging #Taylor #reagent #bottles #acid #burns #eyes #skin #gastrointestinal #recall"

Chemists succeed in upscaling a common reagent for industrial level applications

The metallic element samarium, when bound with other elements, is an incredibly useful chemical reagent for synthesizing molecules that can lead to new pharmaceuticals. Discovered in a Russian mine in 1879, the element was named after the mineral it was found in, called samarskite, which itself was named after Russian mining engineer Vassili Samarsky-Bykhovets.

I'm soliciting clever names for this "new tab page" project so I can post it on GitHub.

It turns out that using var-quoting with reagent (React) components isn't such a good idea.

Var-quoting makes the component function not `identical?` to itself, which causes unnecessary remounts.

(defn foo-component [,,,])

(identical? foo-component foo-component) #=> true

(identical? #'foo-component #'foo-component) #=> false (<-- react will remount)

Just tried out #UIx (https://github.com/pitch-io/uix). Thinking about using it instead of #Reagent for my next hobby project.

A fresh look at 1,2,3-cyclohexatriene shows it could be used as a versatile reagent in organic synthesis

A team of chemists at the University of California, Los Angeles has found that the benzene isomer 1,2,3-cyclohexatriene has the potential to be a versatile reagent in organic synthesis. In their study, reported in the journal Nature, Andrew Kelleghan, Ana Bulger, Dominick Witkowski and Neil Garg conducted experiments with the high-energy compound.

I've always used #reagent with #reframe, but lately been thinking.. is that necessary? Reagent does have quite a nice set of tools for state management, cursor, track, rswap etc (https://github.com/reagent-project/reagent/blob/master/doc/ManagingState.md).

Does anyone have any experience in building a non-trivial app with reagent but without reframe?
