New studio, big reads, and swampy nostalgia. In our latest episode, we talk portals, time travel, heartbreak (Crying in H Mart), chaos (Dungeon Crawler Carl), and comics (Swamp Thing). Book lovers, this one's for you. 🎧📚 #BookPodcast #SwampThing #ReadingRecap

Episode 555 – Geeking With Karen Bee: Portals, Page-Turners & Swamp Things

In this episode, we (finally!) settle into our brand new studio setup and catch up on all the books, stories, and strange obsessions that have been filling our shelves—and our heads—lately. From the heartbreak and food memories of Crying in H Mart to the surreal mythology of The Spear Cuts Through Water, we share what’s moved us, confused us, or just totally swept us away. Expect lively discussion about The Midnight Library, The Book of Doors, and Tomorrow, and Tomorrow, and Tomorrow—all rich with time travel, alternate realities, and unexpected doorways. Things get chaotic with Dungeon Crawler Carl, philosophical with The Poppy War, and delightfully weird with Halls of the Turnip King. We also dip into the strange, mossy world of Swamp Thing—from Alan Moore’s iconic run to the creature’s (sometimes cursed) appearances in film. Along the way, we touch on I Hope This Finds You Well and what it says about modern workplace culture, gush about using Storygraph, and shout out the haunting track Pinprick by Dome. If you love books with bite, stories with portals, and a little comic book nostalgia, this one’s for you. #PodcastEpisode #BookPodcast #ReadingRecap #NewStudioSetup #CryingInHMart #TheSpearCutsThroughWater #TomorrowAndTomorrowAndTomorrow #TheMidnightLibrary #TheBookOfDoors #DungeonCrawlerCarl #ThePoppyWar #HallsOfTheTurnipKing #SwampThing #AlanMoore #ComicBookTalk #Storygraph #BookDiscussion #TimeTravelBooks #FantasyReads #WorkplaceCulture #BookRecommendations #LiteraryPodcast

I set my goal of books to read this year at 24 back in Jan 2023. I sit now, the last day of the year with 46 read in that goal. I enjoyed the time with most of them immensely! I believe 48 may be my goal for 2024!
