They're free - when you can find one.
National and mobile AFAIK.

Thinking it comes down to "It's cheaper and more reliable this way."

I think the provider is #Telstra - the remnant of #Telecom, formerly Post Master General?

Eircom Phone Booths in Cork

The phones were there until at least 2022, but Eir announced a few years ago that they’d be removing their public phone booths, so away they go.
