For a corporate entity, and knowing from ex staff how almost everyone hates the CEO, this is probably the most genuine response they could probably make, and a good first step moving forward.
It isn't enough though. Not while their prior unjustified bans (and bans of people criticizing the situation) stand. Not while Matt Mullenweg is free to tyrannize the platform and continues to violate several data protection regulations and conduct guidelines, corncobbing and stalking people off site.
Not when they are allegedly in talks to sell off user data to Midjourney.
A regain of trust can only come if Tumblr actually fundamentally fixes the issues that sparked this.
And that includes removing Matt from any power at Tumblr.
