After being the maintainer / productowner of an opensource software for some months (here: TYPO3 extension powermail), it turns out (for me at least), that's way more communication than coding.

It's really cool to get focus time to work on OpenSource from your employer. Currently I'm working one day a week on EXT: powermail. Really cool to see how many issues get fixed and PRs get merged. One factor is, that I get more and more in2 the code.
