Placescore will be temporarily offline between seasons for a few minutes once a week. This is what players will see if they open the app during that period. 😴

I spent the last couple of days building the season system for #Placescore. It's all explained in the video but have a look at this. It's called THE VOID and it only happens once a week for a very limited amount of time. Winning THE VOID is going to be a big deal.

Hey friends, I know this might be a bit cringe, but I wanted to mess around with making quick update videos and devlogs on YouTube. This one isn't exactly short, but it gives you a good idea of what I'm working on with #Placescore.

I'm thinking of keeping future videos between 1 to 4 minutes. When I posted a couple of videos like this here before, people seemed to like them. But honestly, YouTube just feels like the better place for these.

I think I got it now. This is so much better than the version from the other day, it's not even funny.

- Reduced everything from 6 to 2 teams. It's you vs. them now.
- Streamlined the season view to make sure it's self-explanatory.
- Reworked the place list logic. Places now show up in the color of your team, no matter who claimed them.

This is becoming pretty, pretty, pretty, pretty, pretty, pretty, preeeetty good.

I spent the whole day rewriting the data structure for scores in #Placescore and can now present to you:

The teams leader board!

Every player will be assigned to a team. Claiming, winning and holding places helps your team to win the season by owning the most places.

Obviously looks like ass but making things pretty is easy. I'm just happy I got it to work.

Started work on a place detail view that shows stuff like a log of all attempts to claim a place. Looks stupid if only one person is playing for a place, but it's basically a battle log with entries for each player.

Every score that beat the previous high score is marked in green to indicate that the player was the owner for that point in time.

As promised, a few thoughts on what #Placescore is, where it's coming from and where it's going. All part of the more or less first issue of the new Tiptop Software newsletter:

I'm bringing plopping back. It only took a decade. Here's how, why and when.

Two days of working through a very helpful little course and a lot of new information about #SpriteKit and #UIKit later, I managed to put in the actual game. This is shaping up nicely. 🤗
