Teaching "light as a wave" this week reminded me that most diagrams of electromagnetic (EM) waves use red & blue to distinguish between the electric & magnetic waves.
However, a quick search reveals whether the electric wave is red or blue (and hence the mag wave is the other colour) confirms there's disagreement. So, clearly 😀, an important question for #PhysicsFriday is:
By which colour do you think the electric wave should be represented?

#PhysicsFriday To help you sound like you know what your talking about in physics/maths:
Basic: Euler is pronounced Oiler.
Intermediate: The topic of "Lie Groups" is not about telling falsehoods. "Lie" is pronounced "Lee".
Advanced: Emily Noether... it's a "t" sound in the middle, not a "th". Note-r it well!
Extra cool if you know the correct pronunciation of these, and others, but deliberately, "ironically", mispronounce them... accompanied by a smug, knowing, smile.

#PhysicsFriday Well... it's an Australian Friday tomorrow. I'm posting early because I'm presenting at a local physics teachers conference Friday, and so I might not post then.
My stich is presentations about physics "just beyond", but directly relevant, to the curriculum. I like encouraging teachers to ensure they remain excited about the physics and nurture their own understanding - which hopefully rubs off on their students.
